Hmm ... for some reason, they're probably too big a file is my guess.

Try "flickr". It's free. You just download your pictures to there, THEN you can download them directly to your piece, much like when we add Youtube videos ... same kind of operation.

Here's something from flickr.

springflowerstankspore

So, I downloaded a picture, then opened it in Paint, added the words, THEN, downloaded it to "Flickr".
From Flickr, I clicked on share, then "embed" and THEN I pasted it here. (It's a buch of words and numbers when you past it, but once I hit "save" below the picture will appear. In advanced editor, you paste it, save, then edit, then save again and your picture is part of your piece.

HAHAHA! No idea why it's so BIG. LOL
It's a normal size in your piece. :))

Hi Steve,
thank you for taking the time to reply to my desperate pleas. I have done as you have said several more times but the outcome is still the same. I can go right to the verify page where it asks if I can see my picture but there is nothing there accept a small black cross.
I did notice that when my selected picture appears in the left hand corner of the download box there is a red box with an x in it on the right hand side.
Perhaps this is the problem but if I click on it the selected picture disappears and I have to then re-select my picture. I have spoken to Tom about this and I sent him two pictures from my file for him to download and they worked perfectly for him.
Is there a certain setting on my pc that I should have to make this work? Although I have not changed any settings on my pc.
Thanks
Brenda:))x

Hi again, Brenda!

I feel your pain.

A couple of points from your last message - the fact that Tom can get the pictures to load shows that there is nothing wrong with the pictures themselves. I repeat - I have NEVER had any issue with file size or format - I never even check - they just load.

This is the bit I'm confused about - you say '... there is nothing there except a small black cross.' Then, in the next sentence you say 'when my picture appears in the left-hand corner....'

So, if your picture appears, there is no problem. Just proceed to the next step. DO NOT click on the red cross = that's just another way of cancelling.

Could you clarify that for me? Do you ever get to the point where you see a tiny version of your picture in that box?

Hi Mikey,
call me dumb, but I have no idea what flicker is or how to download it to paint... what ever that is, lol.
What is paint. I usually find a picture on line that I like press to save which goes straight to my pictures folder then I can open it in word where I can then edit it and post it in e-mails or on fanstory as before, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be compatible with FS. sending them elsewhere is not a problem.?????

Hello, Brenda.
I once had the same problem and it was a simple matter of renaming the picture in my computer files.
Now, I realize that sounds far too simple. But try renaming your file--something simple--like the title of your poem.
Who knows, that just might solve your dilemma?

What Dean says may well be it. Sometimes a dash or an extra period in the title drives the machines crazy.

Paint is a windows program where you can use your computer to create artwork. You can also download a picture and type text right on to it.

Flickr is a site where you can store your pictures. You can also download your stored pictures to embed ... anywhere.

Flickr.com Just call it up and you'll see. :))

Brenda, you did say...
'when my selected picture appears in the left hand corner of the download box there is a red box with an x in it on the right hand side. '

So, just to be perfectly clear - your picture never appeared, right?

A couple of other silly questions.

Have you tried this with a variety of pictures or just one?

have you tried using a picture that you know you have successfully used before - one from an old poem?

You mention editing in Word. I take it you are just editing the document, not trying to edit the picture...

It looks like we have pinpointed the exact spot where things go wrong. Could you just try one more time and confirm that at that step you get returned to the screen with the big grey box and there is absolutely nothing else in that box except the red cross on the right-hand side?

I don't give up easily...
