RE: Beyond Politics
That video/incident has nothing directly to do with the 'No Child Left Behind' policy/program/Act, which, from my experience, greatly benefited many students and educators.
That was just a student--my God, only 11 years old!--with serious behavioral issues, failed either by his parents/guardians, community, health evaluators, school, or some/all of the above.
The troubled kid was so irate that he threw a first chair, wanted to throw a second, and ended up flinging a dangerous wooden hanger as a projectile-weapon.

RE: Beyond Politics
Ah, that's where you're mistaken. No child left behind, limited the ability of schools to suspend and expel problem kids. And this is not simply one incident, I could go on and on with evidence of this behavior, danger to other students, and teachers. Not to mention the gross disruption of class and learning, adding to the loss of people in the teaching profession. Do you have any idea what is happening in the schools of Chicago, LA, Memphis, Baltimore, Detroit and so on? Do you have any idea of the drugs and gang infestation that districts can not (or will not) weed out?
No, Go. The problems is so much larger than many want to admit to, and the reasons they don't want to, is also a problem.

RE: Beyond Politics
Something else that "Should" be beyond politics, but sadly isn't. This is why it matters.
RE: Beyond Politics
So that was a great story. I liked the Sherriff who had a sense of humour as well as a passion for his job.
But what point are you trying to make, exactly. Is it the same point that he tries to make that the federal government is to blame ?
Because it seems to me that a lot of the problems that emerge from his story are not actually from the open border, but from a lack of communication or cooperation between various law enforcement agencies.
I suspect if I was to look closer at his story I would find inaccuracies or possibly stuff that he just made up. For example he makes a big deal out of fentanyl deaths and enjoys linking it to the 'illegals' (even though there doesn't seem to be any evidence that any of the four characters arrested had anything to do with fentanyl) when I believe the evidence shows that the vast majority of illegal drugs coming into your country is not carried across the border by 'illegals' but comes in by plane or ship or vehicle through controlled points of entry.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Another inconsistency - he complains at one point that the woman didn't get deported but with her boyfriend fought against his deportation...
So yes, these are very bad people and law enforcement did a great job, but in the overall scheme of things are these criminals any worse than the home-grown ones? Again there seems to be at least some evidence that illegal immigrants actually commit fewer crimes per capita than American citizens.
I could also get sidetracked into wondering if the inflow of illegal drugs into the US is because Americans are willing to buy illegal drugs. Matthew Perry's death was a tragedy, but...
As you say, should be beyond politics but clearly isn't because the Sherriff was at pains to relate that these four criminals entered illegally during Biden's term. No mention of whether his County had problems with illegals in the previous four years or whether he had any criticism of Trump killing the Border Bill that would have at least helped with the open borders...

If I echoed your logic and sentiment any better, kiwi, you'd have to investigate me for cloning--or psychological possession.
But obviously you just don't understand how we do things here, kiwi.
Aren't you aware that it was Biden himself who snuck to the border at night to let in those illegals, then coached them on how effectively to perpetrate their crime careers? Couldn't you see this?
You really shouldn't be commenting on our politics, which you know absolutely nothing about.
