RE: Only the Facts, Please
It seems in some folk's inflated imagination American politics has brought the entire world to the brink of economic collapse. Thank goodness saner minds prevail. We've all brought ourselves to the brink of economic collapse. That said, one could argue that government has no business legislating tax dollars for daycare, and that is an argument that could well be made, providing you do real research and not dig through the nuisance ground of just totally made up crap, which is all the far-right and Republicans are doing right now. I will admit to taking satisfaction from watching Trump and all his copy-cats destroying that part of the Republican party. They underestimated Trump's thirst for revenge. He lost the election fair and square and he is going to take them all down with him. It makes sense if you have that kind of mindset.

Yes, "Quality childcare providers are essential for our young minds", and if they are paid a decent wage, people who are genuinely interested and skilled at working with children will gravitate to those opportunities. Again the question comes down to: is funding daycare a function of government? Child Tax Credits, and other non-refundable tax credits might be the preferable way. I believe the Biden plan does make a provision for those tax benefits. But sometimes people just need a small boost up to get them going, and I believe that is the intention in providing a short sprint.

I did hear that the plan is over six years and not ten as I had initially thought, and that the amount is more than $40 billion, so that does change the calculation. I have no intention of wading through a 1600 page document to find it, so hopefully someone else already knows.

Anna, are you OK?

Your last post was clear and concise and unusually sensible.

Perhaps while you remain in that state of mind you could give your reason for thinking that a government subsidising childcare so that parents are more able to seek employment is a bad thing?

Sometimes it is illuminating to look at what happens in other countries around the world, especially those that seem to be thriving. Maybe someone here could take the time to research childcare and how it is paid for overseas.

Gloria, I believe many of the programs in the original bill needed to be pared back to appease the 'dollars are everything' people who refused to support the bill merely because of the price tag.

They trimmed the bottom line price tag by reducing the number of years these programs would run.

The government you are so quick to reply in unintelligible language, many times, offers free and reduced lunches in most areas.

Many districts have social workers that help families access programs such as reduced dental care.

Many districts offer a 'backpack; to students on the free/reduced program to tide them over Saturday and Sunday when school lunches aren't available. Many students on the free/reduced programs have one hot meal per day at school. While the food may not always be to their standards, it beats starving.

I know there are many changes needed in most all schools. However, all isn't bad.

RE: Only the Facts, Please
I thought stating New Zeland cant even...was specific to that Country...but I've since learned they're sovereign neutral when convenient.
I'm very well aware Our government nutrition programming is the only some inner city and poor communities recieve...I'm also aware of its intent to make citizens dependent upon their mercy. That's why welfare recipients can call it a career so long as they stay single mothers.
If what this illigitiment government is attempting to do to you and your Countrymen is not motivation enough for US to react then just sit there and watch...just dont get in Our way, someone has always had to fight for your freedom.

Childcare workers paid a decent wage? Haha, really? No way! Not here in the USA...where parents need a house that's heavily mortgaged and 2 cars on loan and pay for all the electronic toys for their boys and girls and selves.

So...off to work they go to be someone else's slave to pay for things they don't own and ship their kids off for 10 or 11 hours to under paid workers...$10 per hour.
Now that's the good life!

Recon, So very Christian of you.

I don?t know where you get your information from, but it is completely false.

The Biden administration has never called nor labeled any parent who speaks their mind terrorist. Get your facts straight, please.

It is this kind of viciousness that is intended to not only induce and reduce the masses to their( your kind of thinking) , but accomplishes nothing but divisiveness.

As for public school systems, they need more financial support on the local and state level. Our government subsidizes quite a bit, but not enough in the grand scheme of things. Our children are our future. Quality education, along with quality nutrition and all the back support which goes into educating children, is the impetus which will give the disadvantaged children a future, so they will not have to be caught in the welfare system you so despise.

There is a lot more to be said, but it isn?t just those who are not working( for many valid and invalid reasons) but it is the hard working single moms and dads and the hard working two parent family who struggle each month just to put food on the table. How dare you! How dare you.

Unfortunately, public school systems lack much to be desired in the United States of America. Yes! A place where this should not be happening. One of the richest countries and the public school systems lack in offering true equality education across this continent. Why is this? One reason is the economic disparity in districts.

Of course, if you had children and attended school meetings, you might know this.

Private schools are a different matter altogether. Rarely do the disadvantage get to go to a privatized school. Their fees are astronomical. Also, the drawback to privatized schools is indoctrination( subtle or not so subtle). Example- Kempwood Christian Academy. Christian is the operative word and it is a given you send your child there, you will be taught Christian theology and no two Christian private schools will teach the same from Biblical interpretation. They, also, have a screening process. After all, they are elite and Christian and heaven forbid if you are a single parent having the child out of wedlock. Oooh, that is taboo. There are church privatized schools such as our Lady of Lourdes( Catholic), which are pretty open and inviting, but it is the cost. Other than indoctrination of certain faiths, there educational academics stand above the public school system. This is a shame and a travesty! Each and every child should have the same high standard quality education whether it is public or private. It shouldn?t matter that 85% of one district lives below the poverty level. But it does. It matters. Unless, you are willing to go out there and be a philanthropist and get involved in childhood education, then really- shut up.

Developing young minds starts at infancy. Unless you are above median income, you simply cannot afford to enter those three and four year olds in pre-K. A crucial time in their lives where love of learning should be paramount. Yes, the ideal situation would be for one parent to be able to stay home where love and stability help a child flourish, but often times it is impossible even if you can afford pre-k tuition. However,,many parents are subjected to below par daycare, which is nothing more than playtime, bathroom breaks, and wiping snotty noses. The only learning curve which exist is being social with other children.

Daycare workers should have certain educational requirements in child development, even if it is on the elementary level and continuing education for them. They should not only love their job but be paid a fair and living wage for doing so. This not only weeds out those who are sorely not qualified and care not to be qualified. That being said, giving individuals the support and tools needed to get a lucrative job in such a field has a domino effect. It lifts them out of poverty, it is good for the economy and the communities, plus it gives them confidence to better themselves and thus pass it on to their children. If our government ( we the people) can help them do this- then America can become great. If you want to label that socialism or communism or whatever suits your bias, so be it. We can?t stop you. But it isn?t by a long shot.

RE: Only the Facts, Please
Stop! No childcare worker gets paid their worth. They have level 2 background checks, pay for their education and testing and get paid 9 or 10 dollars an hour so the parents can live in a house they can't afford, drive cars they can't afford to live the American dream you'd have to be asleep to believe while strangers "take care" of their children.

Wow! Now they can't wait to inject them with an emergency use bioweapon filled with parasites and nanobots with a lab manufactured virus that has a 98 or 99 % survival rate.
