A Good Description

New York Times Columnist Ross Douthat defined Kammy Girl Harris as, "a mediocre politician from a deep-blue state with low national approval ratings."

58% of those people asked would agree with the "low approval ratings" as the polls show.

RE: A Good Description

Here's an excerpt from an article in Western Journal explaining Kamala's start in politics

On Sunday, according to The San Francisco Standard, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown held an impromptu news conference outside a restaurant in which he endorsed Harris as President Joe Biden’s replacement at the top of the Democratic presidential ticket.
To put it mildly, Harris could have done without Brown’s endorsement.
The establishment media, of course, will gloss over important details of his history with the vice president. For instance, the Standard noted merely that Brown "dated Harris when she was an Alameda County prosecutor in the mid-1990s."
The truth, however, goes beyond mere dating.
According to a 2019 Politico Magazine profile, San Francisco newspapers began mentioning Harris’ name in 1994, when one columnist, on the occasion of Brown’s 60th birthday, noted that actor Clint Eastwood had spilled champagne on Brown’s "new steady."
Harris, the"new steady," was only 29.
Before long, her romantic relationship with Brown paid off.
According to Politico, "Harris had dated Brown, who was investigated by the FBI when he was speaker of the California Assembly and as mayor was dogged by conflict of interest, and she had benefited from his political patronage."
Indeed, it said, "As the speaker of the state Assembly, Brown had named Harris to well-paid posts on the California Medical Assistance Commission and Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board."
Furthermore, "As mayor of San Francisco in 2003, Brown was supportive of her district attorney campaign although they were no longer dating. Critics " including her opponents " were bemoaning cronyism at City Hall."
In other words, as a 29-year-old woman, Harris had a romantic relationship with a much older man who gave her government jobs and later came under scrutiny from federal law enforcement.
As we have learned in recent years, federal investigations do not always mean that someone has committed a crime. Thus, for present purposes, any hint of impropriety matters less than the manner by which Harris launched her political career.
Conservative commentator Matt Walsh raised this issue from Harris’ past on Sunday.
"Kamala Harris got her start in politics by sleeping with Willie Brown," Walsh said in a post on X.
"She’s made a career out of begging for hand outs from powerful men. A thoroughly unimpressive human being," he added

RE: A Good Description
Apparently she's a real peach to work for...

Under Kamala Harris, the Office of the Vice President has been called a "revolving door," a "staff exodus" of key aides "heading for the exits."

That’s not hyperbole from the national media. Our auditors at OpenTheBooks quantified an extraordinarily high 91.5-percent staff turnover rate. We used U.S. Senate disclosures to conduct our investigation and those databases can be downloaded below.

Elected in November 2020, Harris took the oath of office in January 2021. As of March 31, 2024, only four of the initial 47 staffers from the first year are still employed – consistently and without interruption – by the Vice President.

Furthermore, the turnover chaos isn’t getting better. In the trailing 12-month period, 24 staffers left — that’s almost half the employees.

And all the world's libraries would still not be enough to 'summarize' all of Trump's flaws/faults/mis-steps and nefarious escapades/dealings.

As a quietly-on-the-side vice president, Harris is a relative unknown nationally. Hence, people's ambiguity and low-rating of her--for now.

As she is established as the Democrat's front-runner, in the next few weeks, that approval rating will change, most likely rising, as folks hear her and get to know her public service/record better.

Of course, those who have already dogmatically condemned, hated and written her off from get-go will likely only double-down and poopoo her more.

All I hope/ask, America, is that you take her seriously and give her a chance.
We could make history in November!

"As she is established as the Democrat's front-runner, in the next few weeks" -- what are you talking about? She was already handed a majority of the delegates, basically overnight. No one is even bothering to run against her because they know how things work now in the DNC. Democrats believe in DEI, not democracy.

Wasn't it glorious! Harris scored a hat trick which is a sport's term (hockey and soccer) defined as three successes of the same kind, especially consecutive ones within a limited period. An accomplishment Trump can definitely appreciate. One, she raised the most funds of any candidate in history in a 24 hour period of time, two, she secured enough delegates to seal her status as the presumptive Democratic nominee, and, three, she proved she has the confidence and vision to stand in front of large crowds and deliver a fiery speech.

Anyone who isn't impressed hasn't been paying attention.

Of course people aren't impressed. She's a woman. According to some people on this forum, sleeping with an influential older man is the only way she could possibly have scaled the heights she has.
I'd almost have preferred it if they thought it was shady dealings. It's all so depressing. Even worse, on this thread it's another woman coming out with it.
I guess the only way for a younger woman to get taken seriously would be if she'd lived as a nun for her entire life.

Hello, Julie. Don't think I know you...

I'm interested in your comment that the man Harris allegedly slept with 'gave her government jobs.' Especially because a couple of sentences later you say that he 'supported her election campaign,.

So which was it and if the former, where is the evidence?

If I understand this correctly, Harris was ELECTED to the position of AG of California. Then she was ELECTED as State Senator. And finally she was ELECTED on the Biden ticket to the position of Vice-President. She may have slept with a number of people, but surely not with ALL of those voters!

Oh, by the way, Brett, persistently referring to the VP of the US with a demeaning nickname obvious shows a lot more about your character than it does hers.

I wonder where you could have picked up that nasty schoolboy sort of trait. Oh, wait, I think I know someone else who revels in that sort of childish name-calling - you cult leader.

I agree with Steve. Let's save name calling for poetry, and use real names in the forum. That doesn't mean we have to constantly write "Vice President Harris" or "[former President] Trump" when addressing them, but pet names in political discourse degrades the conversation for everyone.

I'd go with that. I mean some of the names used here go so far as to suggest the contributor is not even human! :O)
