Come! We shall walk the moon home, you and I
And it will light our way through shadowed spaces,
Through time enough for each to testify
To love with old, enchanted commonplaces,
And we shall stroll to undiscovered glades
On timeless paths, and speak of foolishness
In tones of consequence, whose lights and shades
Will twine a true-love knot our pledge to bless.
Then shall we find illumined strands to plait
With our prosaic threads and so devise
A coverlid, moonlight and intricate,
All homespun out of custom and surprise.
We'll marvel at the miracle we're spinning:
Oh, this our life, our endless sweet beginning.
