...
So long before the birth of time God saw my unformed self,
He had a dream my days He planned, they waited on a shelf.
He takes my heart of hardened stone and turns it into gold,
this heart is now turned into flesh, as clay my form He'd mould.
When I was young I had a dream my star would shine so bright,
but what was born in day descends and turns to darkest night.
I thought that I could find true grace but found that I could not,
I searched in caverns deep and dark, with pits the sun would block.
I could not see and did not know what lay in store for me,
but when I cried my search would end when Jesus set me free.
He clothes me in a scarlet cloak, my righteousness is sealed
and God became my saviour King, He is my rod and shield.
Now God anoints my head with oil, adorns me with a ring,
within my heart composes songs my mouth for Him I sing.
