Putty and Nutty, two squirrels who live in our maple tree
Bound up to the glass patio door seeming to smile with glee
When they spot Mom, they place their paws on the glass
Hoping that she'll prepare for them their favorite repast
They love Mom’s breakfast of crackers with peanut butter
Both watch her reach in the cabinet their tails jitter and flutter
Mom smears the peanut spread making four Ritz cracker treats
They seem to grin as their little hearts pound in rapid beats
Mom slides the patio door and places their plate
They’re happy she always keeps their morning date
Each takes a cracker, standing on hind legs takes a bite
The two munching away is quite an enjoyable sight
They finish their breakfast and scurry into the yard
They’re thankful for Mom, for them life isn’t so hard
