Exhaustion finds a soul bereft
of confidence in future’s stake –
Streaming sun and gentle breeze
kiss but the shell of hope’s namesake…

No promise of companionship
is found within the light of dawn –
Grand plans and schemes and lifelong dreams
lie crumbling ‘neath woe’s paragon…

Walls that offered sanctuary –
bastions of fellowship and friends –
now mock like shards of prison glass,
cause wounds so deep they’ll never mend…

Removed from all that makes it whole –
a healing touch and friendly smile –
the soul seeks solace in death’s arms,
surrend’ring to estrangement’s guile…

Suffused with angst, existence wanes,
without fervor to lend reward –
For in the end, will life be saved,
if breath is but to be endured?

Sorry I've been AWOL, folks - this overwhelming process of 'downsizing' just takes it out of ya! ;) Popping in a bit today, but will, hopefully, be back soon...?? Thank you for reading me!
