Man frees whale caught in nets
What one man can do. by Aussie
Rhyming Poem contest entry

His tiny tinny skipped the waves
Fisherman heading home
Spied the red buoys, bloody foam
Whale caught in netting graves

He cut the motor, let her drift
Saw the calf distressed and caught
Knife held between teeth, fast lift
Over the side, mercy sought

Thrashing tail could kill man or beast
Whale stopped it's frenzied fight
Let man cut away his prison did cease
Man exhausted, whale's delight

Into the blue whale swam away
Man trod water, resting a while
Freedom swimming today
Unselfish man with very broad smile

Author Notes
Contest entry for Rhyming Poem: This did actually happen in April. He wanted to remain anonymous. Shark netting along our coastline kills more than sharks. It strangles and drowns turtles, dugongs, whales and other large fish. I am totally against it. Find another way, don't murder our sea life. The Great White shark has been in the ocean for 43 million years. It's his domain and he only kills to eat, poor eyesight might mistake you for a seal. Again - find another way.
