Ode to Junk Food by davisr (Rhonda)

When as a youth, I'd found my food to be,
Terribly fattening and never sugar free.
Twinkies were a huge delight,
Behold their golden, cream-filled sight!
Ding dongs I could eat with gusto,
Don't judge me, it was hard, you know.
Layers of chocolate and cream inside,
Wrapped up in foil, a sweet surprise.
And then there was candy, rows and rows,
At my local grocery store.
Jellybeans, Milky-ways, Snickers too,
What was a girl ever to do?
Chips and pretzels and corny dogs,.
All conspiring, I was the world's biggest hog.
I didn't care, my appetite was atrocious,
Just give me anything beginning with Hostess.
I'm glad to say my diet has changed,
From such food, I am truly estranged.
Older now, my metabolism has slowed,
Wisdom, it seems, has been bestowed.
Calories must be counted with care,
No sweet retreat, no chocolate flair.
I shop responsibly, a family to feed,
I pass up fattening and choose real need.
I am reformed, my friends I vow,
Before the veggies, I humbly bow.
But should I be quarantined, you see,
Junk food will claim a sweet victory.

Oh yeah, it did...

Author Notes
As I said, just a bit of fun for difficult times. Actually, I was probably healthier as a child. My mother was a health nut.
