many are searching for the peace we already have
while others cling to the curse of the past
spouting their hated for any color besides theirs
it started at the beginning of all things
when pride crept into the garden
and we hid our eyes from God
down through time, each conquering generation
used hate to fill simple minds with injustice
to become the oppressor of millions
but there came a man of peace
born in Bethlehem, a Child would grow
and share His sinless life with the world
He often spoke of peace in His teachings
and one day, he gave us His peace
a loving peace not as the world provides it
we took His peace and hung it on a cross
while the oppressors mocked and cursed Him
in His last moments, He asked for their forgiveness
three days later, with the stone rolled away
He gave His love to all
then ascended into Heaven
we have turned our backs on His love
replaced the joy of His presence
for the pride and arrogance of this age
we all need to look deep in the mirror
examine our hearts for any malice
that's hidden deep inside
then kneel before the Prince of Peace
begging forgiveness
and receive His undying love
