When Cleopatra met her match,
commanding armies was his might.
Though Antony was quite a catch,
she never thought that love would bite.
She'd bathe in milk perfumed with oil
to tantalize her Roman knight,
not knowing fate her plans would spoil.
She never thought that love would bite.
Although his heart belonged to her,
his Roman duty bound him tight
with marriage he could not deter.
She never thought that love would bite.
Ensuing battle caused his death.
The saddened Queen thus filled with spite
did kiss the asp with her last breath.
She never thought that love would bite.
