A Triolet
When Eagles Soar

Shadows loom when eagles soar
with pinions poised and spread for flight.
Such slow-winged power! I'm left in awe.
Shadows loom when eagles soar.
As this rapacious carnivore
seeks for prey, I cower in fright.
Shadows loom when eagles soar
with pinions poised and spread for flight.

Author Notes
The Triolet is an old French form with a rhyme scheme ABaAabAB, where upper case letters indicate a repeated line.
