I still recall the time of day
when, walking past, he caught my eye,
And how the sunlight touched his face,
so beautiful it made me cry…
And as I sat there quite entranced
behind the leaves in yonder tree,
Soft breezes blew, that tree limb danced,
what happened next, bet you can see…
It’s said a fairy’s known for grace
with charm and magic unsurpassed,
But when one falls flat on her face,
that reputation seems miscast…
I don’t know which of us laughed first,
if I reached up or he reached down,
But either way I fell head first
for captivating eyes of brown…
He gently brushed my hair aside,
said, “Are you sure you’ll be okay?”
I tried to speak but words just died:
his smile, it stole my breath away…
For how could man of mortal means
behold one from the realm of Fae?
How did his eyes reflect my dreams,
his arms invite my heart to stay?
Whate’er the reasons for the spell
that bound a fairy and a man,
I did not ponder, still don’t dwell,
for side-by-side we’ll ever stand…
He still says I’m his everything
e’en as we age, our hair turns gray,
And I have never missed my wings
for love’s the magic in our days.
