Vampires, horrid, scary beings.
Only in the dark can they be seen.
You don't dare sleep all through the night,
they'll wake you with a paralyzing sight.
Long, yellow fangs coming toward you,
on your neck they wish to chew.
Never relax, always have a guard,
post one on the roof, one in the yard.
Never sleep sound until the sun's bright rays,
filter in signaling light of day,
when vampires vanish to coffins and sleep,
until the moon is full, then out they creep.
Should you wake in a coffin one fine morn,
with fangs long and yellow, hair all shorn,
know you're a victim of vampire's bite.
It's your misfortune and your plight,
to live in shadows, and darkness of night,
never again to share in the right,
to walk among those once your peers,
they run from you with a plethora of fears.
Pick your coffin, sturdy with elbow room.
Satin lining, and dim lamp for gloom.
Living dead for hundreds of years,
no need for doctors or for cures.
No need for housekeeper or cook.
Might be wise to invest in a good, long book.
