Sitting Vigil by Y. M. Roger
Quiet writing prompt entry

Those crazy nights so long ago:
Together in our tiny loft –
That a/c clacked, loud sirens wailed,
Our neighbor’s voice all things but soft.

And then those years with our four kids:
Days and nights of hullaballoo –
Ball games, lessons and school plays;
Broke bones, lost cats and Spring Debuts.

Or what about our new R-V,
Your poker games at the campground?
You always have to stay up late,
And blare those tunes ‘til cops come ‘round…

This hospital’s deserted now,
It's late, Babe, and I’m tired of cryin' –
I don’t care what the doctors say,
Just please wake up -  it’s too damn quiet!
