I ventured outside for a walk today
My winter clothes now stashed away
The glorious smell of spring was there
Tantalizing, teasing, tasty air.
I live where winter is unforgiving
So cold sometimes it interrupts living
What can you do when it's 10 below?
Curl up inside or shovel snow.
A robin pulling up worms with glee
The lilac buds smiling at me
My dog tugged her leash, joy so nice
No thought at all of slipping on ice.
The tulips and daffodils soon will arrive
Perhaps to prove they are still alive
An explosion of colors, birds will sing
Thank you God for giving us Spring.

Author Notes
It was actually 2 degrees here the other morning. We have a long cold winter here. It usually starts by the end of October and is still very present in April. We have days in April that tease us. One day it will be a glorious 65 degrees and the next day a disillusioning 35 degrees. In spite of all this, most of us love this beautiful North Country we live in.
