Sometimes I stay awake all night
Although so tired with sleep I fight.
With constant thoughts, throughout my head
I toss and turn around in bed,
I think I should get up instead,
Maybe my hunger should be fed?
Could start that book that is unread?
But I'm so warm, the cold I dread,
And not so easily misled,
So stay in bed and stare ahead.
Then when I'm sleepy, here's my plight
Alarms go off with morning light.

Author Notes
Thanks to Jan for this Duo Challenge
A poem of either 10 or 12 line
The first 2 and last 2 lines have the same end rhyme
All the other lines must have monorhyme
Written in 8 beat iambic tetrameter
I hope my poem about insomnia meets the above requirements
Some times It is hard to get a solid nights sleep and one either feels they have not slept, or sleeps intermittently, waking frequently, looking at the clock and wondering when sleep will come.
THEN when one has to get up, the sandman arrives and it is too late.
I wonder how many can relate to this
Thanks to booklotto for the image Sleepy Hollow
Thanks for reading my work
Cheers Christine
