A Duo-Rhyme for Potlatch Poetry
I'd Name Him Flag by damommy

There was a deer whose name was Flag.
He ate the crops. There was the snag
for keeping him, a boyhood pet.
His permanence was under threat
because he caused more work and sweat.
The boy defended him and yet
he knew the deer the crops beset.
Decision made with great regret,
and came the day he’d ne’er forget.
He took the gun, his mind dead set.
Poor Flag would never be a stag,
and nevermore would his tail wag.
