The years have passed, before my eyes,
from busy days and needed sleep.
I now look upward to the skies
and pray dear Lord my soul to keep.
It troubles me, how years have fled.
With friends I can no longer dwell.
My long, lost loves now all lie dead.
I hear the distant tolling bell.
Life has been long, life has been good,
the good outnumber all the bad.
I've tried to live it as one should
and leave this life, happy yet sad.
While on my way, just passing through,
I yet may write a poem or two.
