If I live to be one hundred,
I don't think I will again see
Anything that brings back my childhood
Like that majestic old oak tree.

It stood by the side of the farm house,
Built on top of a hill.
My great granddad built half the house,
The other half by my granddad Bill.

The old house is gone now,
Brush grows where it stood.
Times were rough then,
But everything seemed good.

Now that the years have caught me,
And frailty has settled in.
I don't visit the old place often,
But it's where my life began.

If I could go back in time,
I know where it would be.
I'd visit my mom and dad
And climb that old oak tree.

Author Notes
Good memories are very important. Make the most of each day.
The Oak tree pictured dates back to 1680. It's one of the largest oak trees of it's kind.
