Let's speak of bowling, which she loved,
I can see her smiling face.
She seemed a mother to us all,
full of dignity and grace.
She loved to bowl for exercise
and the fellowship she shared
with members of competing teams,
who always showed that they cared.
Through dimming eyes and body frail,
she came until near the end
never speaking ill of anyone
She was everybody's friend
.
We'll miss her wit and graciousness
and her aged, youthful way.
A beacon in our life is gone
may memories always stay.
Some day we'll walk that last long mile
and cross heaven's judgment bar,
perhaps to see her smiling face-
Our Golden Nugget senior star

Author Notes
Marietta was a 90 plus year old black lady, who
bowled in our senior league. This poem was read at
her funeral. She was truly remarkable.
