What will I need to bring joy and succeed
if I have to stay home? If I cannot roam
send me twenty cats please – I’ll be happy with these!
I’d like an open door, then I can let in more, and
a room with a view, that’s on my list, too.
So I’m not alone, I’ll need a computer and phone.
I’ll not forget art, that will play a part –
right from the start it’s been close to my heart.
Some fish on patterned plates to share among mates,
with bread in a loaf and some wine in a flask –
just simple fare, not much to ask.
I’ll need lots to read, so add plenty of books
stacked in all my room’s nooks.
Pretty flowers in Mom’s vase upon which to gaze
will surely bring joy and delight
when I keep the outdoors indoors, in sight.
Good music’s a must, and I’ll not let dust settle;
I’ll be dancing (to keep in fine fettle)
with my vacuum cleaner, to keep fit and leaner.
I’ll need to dance because there’s a chance
I’ll find my stash of fattening candy.
(My sweet tooth means I’ll keep it handy.)
In addition, I hope I’ll have a telescope,
to peer with starry eyes at those gems in the skies.
Saving the best for last in this, I’d love a devoted man to kiss.
To ease my pleas while praying for these,
please give me a pair of pain-free knees.
