'Twas Magic There by Y. M. Roger
    Rondeau Poetry Contest Winner

‘Twas magic there we’d often find,
Though to its presence we were blind.
Chance encounters o’er battles fought
With weapons forged and lessons taught,
All brought to life in childhood’s mind…

I was the king of all mankind
You were my cohort mastermind
And monsters met our large sling shot….
‘Twas magic there!

Ne’er did we leave a friend behind,
Or from what’s right be disinclined.
For child’s fun is from goodness wrought
‘Tis growing up that turns life’s lot,
Still such mem’ries my heart remind:
‘Twas magic there!
