Born of E. R. Burroughs' pen;
this hero became a legend.
Begat of man, but raised by apes,
from his notice nothing escapes,
as he swings from tree to tree
sounding call of victory.
With strength and cunning he'll defend
all of his animal friends;
keeping them from poacher's snare,
or a hunter's icy glare.
His jungle cry heard far and wide
as against injustice collides.
Alone, he is without a mate,
until one day, in steps fate;
for Jane into his life came
and his world hasn't been the same.
Working together as a team
they watch over land and stream.
As they labor in unity
love blossoms 'tween he and she.
Still, at first he told her go.
By one act she changed his mind, though.
Finding in her one he could trust.
Someone who was true and just.
Through persistence of his will,
protecting jungle he does still;
keeping the outside world at bay -
his demands to be obeyed,
as he battles ever on
so the jungle will ne'er be gone.
In the trumpet of Tantor,
or that of Numa's mighty roar,
or even Cheetah's chatter hear:
knowing Tarzan's spirit's near.
That spirit in all can be
by seeing jungle through each tree.

This is a compilation of the many portrayals of Tarzan. though I'm mainly using the one starring Wolf Larson, as I like his characterization best, though I've emitted all the humans, save for Jane, as the others were not created by Burroughs.Also appreciation goes out to Daphne Oberon for use of the beautiful photo.
