It was spring, sun shining day,
on the doorstep, as I first walked out,
right where I was about to step
a snake slithered on the porch.
In medical training in the desert
a cot was holding a victim beneath
which, being shaded from the sun was
a rattler.
In the jungles of Viet Nam
snakes had bodies as big as tree trunks.
Which made me want to be home even more.
Snakes, I can't even stand to look at them
I hope to see none.....never, not ever, more!

Writing Prompt |
Write a 10-15 line free verse poem about a phobia you may have. We all have something that very much frightens us. No rhyming patterns. |
Author Notes
It just is not a little thing, I simply can not stand to even see a snake on a movie screen. I just stop breathing and break out in a sweat!
