Silently, swimmingly selkie sings
Bewitching ladies when he brings
Magic from his ocean home
Selkie male delighting in ocean foam
Stepping onshore his body gleaming
Sniffing the air to find a bride
Son of the sea, water streaming
Selkie woos beyond the tide
He spies a lassie walking by heather
His heart bewitched, sings with all his might
Magic at work, all kinds of weather
Turning, she is captured by sight
"Come wi' me, ye'll no be sad
Make ye wife and mother of two"
The woman heard and she was glad
Selkie had no more to woo
Changed into a cloak of seal
She ventured deep below land
He taught her how eat her meal
Fish she caught, joined his band
Giving birth to seal pup twins
Queen of the Isles, her heart doth sing
She walked the land saw man's sins
Selkie mother, loving heart doth bring.
