like the pages of a book
our lives paginate through
from one situation to the other
one circumstance to another
a happening a glance a romance
a theft a heartache a birth a death
like the waves ebbing away from us
we wait for them to flow back in & fill
the emptiness & the void of trespass
o annoying hurtful abyss crevasse
we await the Shepherd's staff to lull us
in His crook as He brings us safely back
as the folded linens of our lives unfold
to reveal His every good work & word in us
which we did not understand or care for so
as we now relive our lives we grasp salvation
o my Jesus forgive us for the many sins & offences
against the sacredness of thy person in the flesh gmt/1984
