You were right there with me
and saw how my heart was broken,
when those evil words were spoken.
You chose to never leave my side,
I did not know, in You I could abide.
Even when my life was filled with sin,
and I was not willing to let You in,
You were not willing to let me go.
I was discouraged becoming easy prey,
and quite soon, Satan led me away.
As I struggled each and every day
it seemed I could hear You say,
"You are my dear child,
I'll not let you get away."
You went with me into a dark place
where Your love shone on my face,
changing my life into what You wanted,
and You knew, what I could be.
Though there have been times, I'd stray
still You would not let me get away.
So in my old age I can give You glory,
As I'm blessed to tell my story.
