One More Broken Song by Diana L Crawford
Sad Poems writing prompt entry

I’m gonna sit down and play me
one more broken song,
‘cuz you know this road I travel
is so lonely and so long.

I’m so hurt by your silence;
you hardly look my way.
You know it’s in your arms, my love,
that’s where I long to stay.

     Reflections of your eyes I see
     in every song I sing.
     Tell me, love, when does winter
     turn to spring?

Open fields and tall bluegrass
passing me by the mile.
You know my heart is longing
to be near you for a while.

I’ve been gone for many days now
and still have far to roam;
but deep within your heart, my love,
there lies my only home.

     Reflections of your eyes I see
     in every song I sing.
     Tell me, love, when does winter
     turn to spring?

I’m gonna sit down and play me
one more broken song,
‘cuz you know this road I travel
is so lonely and so long.

Writing Prompt
Sadness has overcome us all at one time or another. Either caused by a relative or close friend's death or from the girl or guy that broke our heart or just life in general. We all handle situations differently, some good, some bad. This contest gives us the ability to explore this. Your poem can also play into other emotions that are common to writing like this such as anger or depression.
