Inspire by Heather Knight |
The rain washed the street, gently but insistently. Puddles formed on the asphalt creating iridescent lagoons. A little sparrow hopped on the water, its tiny feet making ripples. He was wet and cold, his wings aquiver. I watched the bewitching scene from my window and listened to the creature's mellifluous song. The sun had set and, in the ethereal light, the brown bird made me think of an otherworldly creature. A fairy or an elf. 'Why are you there, little one?' I asked. 'To inspire,' he answered. 'A poem or a song... A painting. Whatever suits your fancy.' I sighed, both surprised and enchanted by the answer.
