I wandered away
far into the night
to look for a sign
of the light.
The light of true love,
I was told long ago,
would be waiting
for me in the night.
Down this path I walked,
over that hill I climbed,
searching here and
there by twilight.
The hours, the days-
it all seemed so long,
and still no trace
of delight.
I started to run;
I panicked, it seems.
I stumbled and
fell in fright.
I laid on the ground;
I pounded the earth
and wept for the love
out of sight.
Then suddenly hands
so gentle, yet firm
reached out
to heal my plight.
Now we walk-he and I,
he makes our short time
the sweetest you'll
find in the night.
And I know he's the one
that forever will be
the keeper of
my love's light.
