Family is the tie that binds
or, perhaps, it's (k)not.
Some days they are not what I want,
but, still, they're what I got.
Sister One, you snore all night
plus, you grind your teeth.
Sister Two, it's now late May;
take down your Christmas wreath.
Mum and Dad, you worked so hard.
Why don't you take a trip?
Instead, you sit inside all day,
afraid you'll break a hip.
And Charles the dog, what can I say?
You toothless, wretched thing!
You have no bark, you have no bite,
you have no zip or zing.
Yet when I look upon you all,
my heart fills up with song.
Because you are my perfect fit.
With you, I do belong.
