Does Spring's voice whisper in the air
these April days when wind's astir?
Are snowflakes swirling 'round my face
a false apology from her?
A mourning dove calls to its mate.
Does Spring's voice whisper in the air?
While listening I pause and hope
there is a message they might share.
Trees strafed all winter by fierce storms
seem oddly spry, stretch toward the sky.
Does Spring's voice whisper in the air
words foreign to the passerby?
The quick snow-melt has startled me.
So much is gone I simply stare.
Is this a hint she's coming soon?
Does Spring's voice whisper in the air?
