Thunder Rolls by Sugarray77

when thunder rolls across the plain
in resonating echoes deep,
and swooshing air bears down in gusts
before torrential, massive sweep,

bear witness of this mighty beast
a natural and perfect storm,
an ugly shade of greenish gray;
black vortex in its funnel form.

inherent power on display
it favors neither man nor beast,
the violent, splayed, errant sky
flows from the west on to the east.

these summer storms upon the plains
cause earth and heaven, both, to shake;
green crops and towns, and people, too
are devastated in their wake
