Living on a lofty hillside
With trees, rocks, flowers, far and wide,
To this belief, I can attest.
Country living is so the best.
Sitting on my parents' back porch
While the candles' flames dance and scorch,
I'm an alert bird in its nest.
Country living is so the best.
Listening to crickets singing
And train horns, lonely and whinging,
Peace and harmony fill my chest.
Country living is so the best.
Watching the lightning bugs flicker,
Which reminds me of God's ichor,
I've been particularly blest.
Country living is so the best.
