RHYMING STORY POEM writing prompt entry

The Vatican
Is now fighting a war
It has witnessed many
But not like this before

The clergy's silent predators
Many victims they left behind
Thousands of innocent children
Abused, the church was blind

This damage control Pope
Knows that this is not a test
Many Catholic priests and bishops
Are those who should confess

Will prison await the many
That the church cannot protect
For those who spoke of God
Leaving damage and neglect

The outrage is so vast
Revulsion and despair
Many victims are now surfacing
They come from everywhere

Society does not tolerate
The rape of innocent youths
Held captive were these victims
Within confessional booths

Perhaps peace will be restored
To the hearts that felt no grace
And forgiveness be returned
To the church that lost its faith

Author Notes
Thanks to cleo85 for the photo. I know that this is not a traditional war but it is a moral one. If we ignore morality, society will crumble as if bombs blew up our world.
