The day that Mabel’s cat got sick,
she called her good friend Ethel quick.
“If you will drive us to the vet,
I’ll buy the lunch I owe you yet.”
Now, Mabel needs a walker’s aid.
That’s why she needs to be conveyed
to places she most needs to go,
and must depend on others so.
While focused helping Mabel down
the front steps on the way to town,
forgot the box with cat in hand,
so Ethel didn’t understand
when devil shrieks, so loud and shrill,
tore through her head like dentist’s drill.
She said, “Oh, Mabel, I declare,
I think I hear a cat somewhere!”
