Running for safety
Caught in a Storm by HarryT
Terza Rima Sonnet poem writing prompt entry

Streaking lightning flashes scratched the blackened sky
Thunder rumbled making me a basket case
I trembled with fear my fright I couldn't deny

Swirling winds, pelting rain slapped my worried face
Clouds turned from seething grey to muddy quicksand
Hail like cue balls shattered into icy lace

My umbrella collapse, blew out of my hand
Ran for a canopy, laid flat like a hound
Siren sounded like a trumpet in a band

Canopy was flapping, I press to the ground
It broke free, flew away, like wild goose on wing
I wished I could be on my way homeward bound

Siren sounded all clear, a much welcomed ring
Safe now, I march home like a conquering king
