Magic mirror in my hand
why do I see such a striking man,
looking back at me?
I adjust my glasses so I can see
in the dark room. The mirror
looks back and... a flash of light!
... Then I see the sagging face,
that two ton chin and...
"Did you really believe
that I would lie?
That striking man with bedroom eyes
of heavenly brown
is humped over and walks with a cane.
That Elvis hair that you combed so well
now shines like a crystal ball
and you are running to roll."
The mirror clears as the wrinkles appear.
"Oh well, that is me."

Writing Prompt |
We look in the mirror everyday. What do we see when we see ourselves? Write a poem about what you see when you look in the mirror. It can be as straightforward or abstract as you'd like. Creative responses and free-form poems are encouraged. |
Author Notes
Just to wish all of you FanStorians a Happy New Year so I end this year with a smile. Leave the tears behind and live your life. Like that song goes, "Be happy, don't worry."
My thank to the madman for the face.
