Her throaty roar promises more
People run for their lives
Gather some items, this is war
Mother Nature, temperatures soar

Brazier-like flames jump tree to tree
Razing homesteads to ashes
Lively-hood lost, fire for all to see
Everything in its path clashes

Animals die where they stand
Horses, cattle and sheep blown apart
Taken their dogs and cats from their land
Farmers panic, drive, stop then start

Planes overhead dropping water fast
Even faster she grows balls of flame
Can't contain this fire, furnace blast
Catastrophic fires taken hold, end game

Author Notes
Contest entry: Australia is burning! From New South Wales to Queensland is on fire. Men are being brought in from other states and even New Zealand to relieve our men who have been spending twelve-hour days fighting fires. One hundred plus fires are out of control and heading for the coastal strip. Temperatures are 105 F constantly in some areas. Unknown to us this weather pattern doesn't seem to want to end. Throw out the record books because never has this been so bad. Pray for rain please.
Thanks for reading.
