The Bishop’s wife was Indiscreet She’d sneak out, Night and Day to meet Her lover, Mr. Lucky, who Was said to be a smart gumshoe.   “Well, Once Upon a Time he was,” Said His Girl Friday, “but because The trap he set To Catch a Thief, Backfired; he quit, awash with grief."   The thief he’d caught was lover, Ruth! And when he learned The Awful Truth That she’d deceived him all along— And really, truly Done Him wrong—   He said, “A bad mistake I’ve made; I’m through, no more of this Charade. A thief—the Bishop’s wife!  Ah, well, Merrily, We Go to Hell."
