                              A Thanksgiving Memory

Twas the week before Thanksgiving and all through the school,

no worker could be heard, nor an electrical tool.

Northern High School was to be done by Labor day.

Now it won't be completed until after May.

I've been commissioned to paint a six foot high 'N'.

To help me finish the job was my grandson Ben.

We searched the corridors, my assistant and I,

to paint the school logo and give it time to dry.

The pattern was hung with masking tape and a prayer

at the location they told us, next to the stair.

When we were done, I saw the loss of our bounty.

Our reindeer took us to the opposite county.

Without us making any noticeable mess,

in double quick time we changed the 'N' to an 'S'.

Author Notes
