A tale of murder
The Murder by Pamusart

I have to find a good excuse
in order to avoid the noose.
Detectives ask me why I ran
about the time the shots began.
I tell them "I'm nobody's fool;
when shots rang out, I ran to school.
And then a little after that,
I grabbed myself a baseball bat.

I brought it only for defense.
You guys are making things intense."
The head detective gives a smirk,
and asks me why I shot the clerk.
I say "no way; it wasn't me;
those powder tests will set me free."
"You prob'ly wore some gloves" he said,
"and only you have seen him dead."

I mention what the killer saw;
He cuts me off; says he's the law.
"Don't talk unless you're spoken to.
We have you cold; you're really screwed.
So where's the gun you threw away?
You must have lost it in the fray."
So I decide to play it cool.
I know that they'll use ev'ry tool.

I know that I am innocent,
but still it's to a cell I went.
They say they found the murder gun
inside my locker; now I'm done.
I know somebody's framing me,
but how can I make others see?
The judge denies me any bail.
My public lawyer's bound to fail.

I wonder who could pull this frame
and only find one guilty name
Until the day the hangman calls,
I'm stuck inside these prison walls.
I fin'ly see him in my mind;
the part of me who's not so kind;
was unaware until today
that two of me were there that day.
