"Walk with me," I was asked,
and I wandered the lonely path.
Few followed the sacred Word.
Yet, in darkness, there was no fear,
wraiths withered away shrieking in silence.
Time was tender in the twilight,
for I had walked many miles.

Then, he stopped and said, "What do you see?"

I saw the birth of a garden, green with foliage,
trees grew in arid sand,
water flowed from foundation's rock,
a river baptized the souls of those that were near.
I did not know where I was.

"Tell me, what do you see?"

I saw the skies breathe new life.
As rainbows graced the land with beauty,
tiny wings touched me tenderly.
Before me, a hummingbird fed me honey,
a squirrel brought food to eat,
a tree gave me a limb to ease my burden,
everything was alive and alluring.

Then, the scene changed from day to night.
In the darkness screeched a raven in rejoice.
The trees where burning;
the animals cooked in the fire.
Man murdered man to demons delight.
The sky was red without rainbows,
and people died under its blaze.

"Tell me, what do you see?"

I saw death hunt from a horse,
killing men, women, and child.
Tears started to blur my vision
and then, death darkened my light.

In this obscurity occurred an owl,
wise beyond the eyes that see.
It brought daylight to my sight
and then spoke with authentic authority.

"One more shall see the light to start anew."

I did not understand.
And then...
I saw the arid ground give life to a tree.

Writing Prompt
Please write a free verse poem. Any topic. No rhyming patterns.

Author Notes
I just imagined the start of creation and the path Jesus took to be born. Words just speak to me and I write. I may be wrong in what I write, so forgive me, but only the Father can judge me.
