When I Was Ten by dragonpoet
Artwork by VMarguarite at FanArtReview.com

When I was ten
I only had to worry
About one 'it'
To run away from
Now there are many.

When I was ten
I could easily
Hide from seekers
But 'home'
No longer seems so safe.

When I was ten
I could break through
The walls of arms
And run free
But now they become
Walls of fear

I need to break
Through the walls
Until everywhere is home
And all 'its' become
The 'us' we were
When I was ten.

Author Notes
IN this poem I used the childhood games of Tag, Hide and Seek and Red Rover as metaphors. I hope they worked.
