Potlatch Challenge A Terza Rima
A Child's Imagination by June Sargent

What would life be without imagination?
Fear to explore possibilities cripples
and can lead to sheer boredom and stagnation.

A child's mind flourishes flying through ripples
of space time continuum with Dr. Who,
as appreciation for reading triples.

Original ideas will begin to brew,
creating a Wonderland of his design
where Alice and the Wizard of Oz share stew.

For more adventures his heart and mind will pine
when seeking Willy Wonka's chocolate bar.
As curiosity peaks his eyes will shine.

With proper encouragement our child went far.
Beyond frontiers where no man has gone he raced.
With just a little effort he reached that star!

Seeds of creativity should be well placed,
lest a young child's mind withers and goes to waste.

Author Notes
Terza rima is a three-line stanza using chain rhyme in the pattern a-b-a, b-c-b, c-d-c, d-e-d. There is no limit to the number of lines, but poems or sections of poems written in terza rima end with either a single line or couplet repeating the rhyme of the middle line of the final tercet. There is no set rhythm for terza rima.
