A poem
The Mouse by Pamusart

I wrapped up the mouse to give to my 'bro
that Christmas when we had mountains of snow.
We hunted our land to capture our prey;
the reptiles and rodents fell to our play.

My brother had placed his eyes on the snake
The snake had just given rattles that shake
The rattle was loud, but, he didn't hear;
he thought that the snake was nothing to fear

He hunted for lizards all of the time
They'd poke out their heads with bodies behind
He thought that the snake was a lizard again*
So, hearing the rattle meant nothing then

I have a confession I have to make;
to say that the mouse attracted the snake.

Author Notes
*again is pronounced the American way rhyming with Ben. Some pronounce it agane or agin with hard g in all cases

It is true that Randy would grab whichever head poked out from the rocks. This is fictitious. I always would worry that he would grab a rattlesnake. I thought it would be wicked if he had a mouse that actually attracted a rattlesnake. They were all over our property. But this is just fantasy.

Thank you for reading my poem.
