Her brain is awash with warm thoughts of him
It's not long before her thoughts start to swim
Just where they are going's anyone's guess
Wherever it is will be a fine mess
She sees that his love for her won't exist
a romance with her, he's always dismissed
She dreams very often of their first kiss
She doesn't know why he always resists
They're very good friends and will be for life
This love of hers causes way too much strife
It might well be best if he's just her friend;
push too hard for love and friendships can end.
She'll let go her pride which cuts like a knife
her biggest of dreams; to be his sweet wife
He'll never know how she feels about him
While mind will keep hoping, prospects seem grim
She looks at his face and sees a sly wink
the kind that can drive a lady to drink
With thoughts of romance, she leaps at her chance
She locks eyes with him and they start to dance
The room starts to fade as thoughts twist and twirl
Emotions run rampant; now she's his girl
They're lost to the world, it does not exist
It's not long at all before their first kiss

Author Notes
I married someone who was initially my friend. Our case was reversed. I spurned him and wanted to stay just friends. He was very persistent and here we are 39 years later. I gave in. Lol
