Was I waking or did I dream?
Fantasy by Cass Carlton

It was soft and cool in the twilight
And the grass had softened my tread
When I espied an angel boy
With wide white wings outspread

Gliding like feathers of thistledown
Were white swans on the lake
The white clad boy with snowy wings
Stood watching their graceful wake.

His face was lit with a starry glow
He was robed in snowy white
I felt it wrong that I should see
Such innocence pure and bright.

Then he turned to me and smiled
Oh how sweet a smile can be
In salute he raised his hand and said
"Farewell and peace to thee."

His wings raised him in Homeward flight
As my head in prayer I bent
No more to weep in silent tears
My comfort was Heaven sent.

Author Notes
This piece was written years ago after the death of my son Heath. I was meditating when this experience came to me. After it had gone I felt my spirit lighten and I began to heal.
